The character of Paris, unconditionally, Eiffel Tower. Any acquaintance with Paris can not do without ascent on it. The engineer Gyustav Eiffel especially to the World exhibition of 1889 created this masterpiece. The Tower seems easy delicate with structure, however its weight amazes - 7 000 tons! Height of a Tower reaches 320 meters. The Tower consists of three levels. The bars and restaurants located on each floor enable a traveler to enjoy a unique panorama. In clear days the sight can capture distance in radius up to 70 kilometers from the upper platform of a Tower. The Triumphal Arch on Square of a Star and other place of interest of Paris are visible from Eiffel Tower. The Arch was constructed under the order of Napoleon in honor of the Great Army. 30 years were spent on its construction. Under an Arch since 1920 there is a grave of the Unknown Soldier, above which eternal fire shines. Inside an Arch the small museum is located. One of the streets starting from the Square of a Star is the famous Elysees Fields. In the past Elysees Fields were
huge compartments of Paris, place of meetings, residential area for the
most influential and known persons of city. Today Elysees Fields have lost the
aristocratic shine, but have not lost the beauty and elegance. The magnificent cool shops,
cinemas, expensive restaurants, offices of large airlines go one by one along the wide
sidewalks always filled with Parisians and the tourists. Moving on Elysees Fields we get on Square of the Consent. At the center of the square towers Egyptian obelisk from Luksor, presented by Egyptian pasha Mukhammedom Ali in 1836. It is 23 meters high and is decorated with hieroglyphs, which mark famous acts of pharaoh Ramose II. Eight statues - characters of main cities of France - tower on corners of square. It is necessary to visit one more place of interest in Paris.
It is Basilique du Sacre-Coeur (Sacred heart), majestically
towering on top of Monmartre Hill. The Basilica was
constructed in 1876 in the Roman-Byzantian style. Four small domes and one large obviously
of east origin. The tourists can be lifted on top of a dome of church, a remarkable
panorama of city and vicinities on many kilometers whence opens. One item of our travel - Center Pompidou is seen from the top of Monmartre
Hill and more. It was constructed in 1969 as a cultural center on solution of the future president of France Gorge Pompidou. The architecture of a building is rather unusual. A building often name "as the urban computer". It occupies the square of 100,000 square meters. All external pipelines are painted in different colors, and each color corresponds to the assignment of the pipeline. Three upper floors of Center Pompidou are occupied by a National museum of modern art. Near the Center Pompidou there is one of most brisk and multicrowded areas of Paris - Forum of the central market. It sometimes is called "the belly of Paris". The forum personifies new understanding of urban space. It is built with glass and aluminum, with marble ladders and escalators, which unite four underground floors around the open area. Here it is possible to find anything you like: shops (boutiques), art compartments, places of entertainment, restaurants, ten cinemas, banks and information centers. On this place four lines of the underground and two lines of high-speed underground RER converge.
It was under construction more than hundred years and at last was
completed in XIV century. A cathedral is powerful and majestic, in it the ideal harmony of style and form is achieved. At an entrance in a cathedral you are amazed by its sizes. It can admit more than 9000 persons. Paris |
